Re: The National...
It had the number of our right back and the name of our left back. And it ran in claret and blue. No brainer to back it.

I didn't back it.

15??? Ha ha, that's fucking mental.

Find it crazy enough backing 2 in the race.

Re: The National...
Amazing the amount of people yesterday at football that all of a sudden had the winner.... then again one of them backed 15 of them !!!

Regarding what happens if/when any horse is euthanized (not just Race Horses)... my understanding they are used for a variety of things... used by equine medical students for practice surgery, food for Hounds at the Hunt Kennels, food for the Big Cats etc at Zoos and Safari Parks... as far as I know using Horse for the dog food industry is not done... same as making glue!! So as per it's MPH just going a little bit over board and silly...

Re: The National...
Some good after timing on this at work from the women.

After I told them my missus had stuck £2.50 on 4 horses including the winner, got the following.

Woman 1:- "Yep, I had the winner as well, placed £20 to win on it, meant to do it each way but done it wrong and got lucky"

Woman 2 who is a horse rider:- "I think it's really cruel to horses, but yeah I also backed that one as told my boyfriend that would win and to back it for me."

Let's just say they didn't mention that horse when discussing it on Friday and I doubt even people who like a gamble just stick £20 to win on the nose in a 40 runner race!!

Re: The National...
Without racing or any other form of equine sport the breed was cease to exist.

MPH would rather kill off the breed than let the horses live as they would want.

What is it that you actually want MPH? To kill off the breed, to prevent people partaking in a perfectly respectable pastime or do actually resent people earning a living from it.

I had £50.00 e/w on 2nd by the way.

Vegetarians are such spanners sometimes.

Well I'm guessing MPH doesn't eat meat anyway, such is his devotion to getting the animals justice.

Surely racing gives horses a decent life otherwise they wouldn't exist surely !!

When I was 16 we had to work on a Saturday and it was National day, 1989. I picked out Little Polveir by closing my eyes and putting my finger on the newspaper and had £2 e/w at 40/1

The rest is history and I have never had a bet since. It's never gonna get better than that. Funny the betting shop never asked my age, even when I turned up for my hundred odd quid which was a weeks wages to me then.

Re: The National...
“Hundreds of horses are killed on British racetracks every year – and for nothing more than a bet. Countless others endure catastrophic breakdowns, fractured bones and broken spines, and thousands are slaughtered for dog food once they're no longer considered profitable, including the foals bred for racing who don't make the grade. Never mind the finish line – this deadly industry is all about the bottom line, and the horses are viewed as ‘replaceable’ commodities, in the words of racing's favourite son, jockey Ruby Walsh.”

Lovely. Still Gary from Pitsea won a couple of hundred quid and cracked right on it.

Got to love women.

The missus backed that because my dad has two friends called Arthur.

Being a women she only stuck £2.50 on it and luckily for her, I refused to do it e/w considering I was the mug she sent.
